MGH FTD Unit presents new research findings at Alzheimer’s Association International Conference

July 28, 2024 (Philadelphia, PA)

Our team presented a variety of new research findings at this conference, the largest forum in the world for the dementia research community.

Our team’s presentations included:

  • improvements in caregiver knowledge of advance care planning after an on-line educational intervention;
  • differences in changes in brain structure in patients with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease based on APOE genotype;
  • relationships between cerebrospinal fluid protein markers and brain shrinkage on MRI in patients with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease;
  • the use of a new cutting-edge MRI technique to measure very subtle brain shrinkage over time in patients with AD or FTD;
  • differences in brain shrinkage in younger AD patients compared to older AD patients;
  • resilience against delirium in Superagers;
  • various subtypes of patients with early-onset AD based on clinical characteristics.

“It is very exciting for our team to be able to share some of the findings from our research with our colleagues from around the world, and to learn from them in the process. The field continues to celebrate tremendous progress!” – Brad Dickerson, MD
