September 19, 2024 (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

Our team attended the International Society for Frontotemporal Dementias biennial conference, the major worldwide FTD conference, and presented new research findings.

The FTD Unit team’s presentations included:

  • improvements in caregiver knowledge of advance care planning after an on-line educational intervention about the severe dementia stage;
  • improvements in caregiver knowledge of advance care planning after an on-line educational intervention focused on Covid-19;
  • A case study showing that Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation of brain circuits can improve naming abilities and increase the use of complex words in a patient with the semantic variant of Primary Progressive Aphasia, with accompanied increased connectivity between the site of stimulation and the language network.

“I am delighted to continue to see the progress we and others are making. The international FTD community is vibrant and growing, and full of new ideas about how best to understand these complex conditions and work toward the development of new models of care and treatment.” – Brad Dickerson, MD
