NBC 10 WJAR profiles Katie Brandt

Katie Brandt, Director of Caregiver Support Services and Public Relations at the MGH FTD Unit, shared her family’s connection to FTD and advice for caregivers on Providence’s NBC 10 WJAR ahead of her keynote speech at the Alzheimer’s Association RI Chapter’s annual Caregiver’s Journey and Research Conference later this month.  Katie suggested that caregivers should not be afraid to reach out for support and relayed the importance of caregiver self-care.  Watch the profile here.

The Caregiver’s Journey and Research Conference focuses on helping caregivers develop the understanding and skills necessary to support a person living through the journey of Alzheimer’s and all other forms of dementia.  The conference brings together caregivers, individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, community-based clinical care providers, clinical researchers, and scientists from across Rhode Island. Throughout the day, attendees will gain valuable insights, tools and resources tailored for caregivers, discuss groundbreaking research advances, and learn about ongoing clinical trials in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
