Philanthropic support through generous donations allows us to provide community programming, expand research and support clinical efforts in search of care and a cure for FTD and related dementias.
Related Frontotemporal Disorders
The Frontotemporal Disorders (FTD), often referred to as Frontotemporal Dementias, include a number of degenerative brain diseases, including mainly Behavioral-variant FTD, Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), Semantic Dementia, but also encompassing Corticobasal Degeneration Syndrome (CBD), Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), and sometimes including Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), and related disorders.
The MGH FTD Unit aims to develop better knowledge about and diagnosis and treatment of all forms of FTD and related focal dementia syndromes. The PPA Program aims to better understand and treat primary progressive aphasia syndromes using existing technologies (including speech therapy) and by developing new diagnostic and treatment technologies.
Our research is generously funded by the National Institute on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association.
