Study Overview

- Conditions Studied: Any member of a family with a history that suggests FTLD, including patients with symptoms of any form of FTLD and people who are part of these families but have either no symptoms or questionable symptoms.
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of this research study is to try to understand changes that may happen in the brain before the symptoms of familial frontotemporal degeneration (fFTD) start. The research may lead to better tests and treatments for FTD.
Study Details
Participation in this study consists of two or four visits within one month of the start of the study and then follow up visits of the same type annually for three years. Certain procedures can be done remotely if necessary.
What to Expect
- A brief physical and neurological exam
- Evaluation of memory and thinking skills
- Questionnaires for participant and study partner
- MRI scan of the brain
- Optional lumbar puncture for studies on cerebrospinal fluid
